Lone Oak FCCLA Volunteers at Hunt County First Responder Lunch

Members of Lone Oak FCCLA volunteered at the Hunt County First Responder Lunch. We showed our appreciation to our firefighters, law enforcement, and paramedics by making and serving desserts.

Lone Oak FCCLA Creates a Mentoring Program

Lone Oak FCCLA created a mentoring program for elementary students called Buffalo Buddies. It is held in the evening once each 6 weeks. Students rotate through 3 stations, games, crafts, and a lesson over a character trait. Our first program was held September 26 and we focused on trustworthiness. Members read a book about trustworthiness to the students, led a discussion, and created several skits to show examples of what it means to be trustworthy. Buffalo Buddies gives a chance for high school students to be positive examples for younger students.

Clifton FCCLA has been focusing on multiple school and community projects such as:

* Collaborating with Interact, another student organization, to collect food for their local food bank

* Educating and promoting a safe and drug-free community with outside resources, such as VOICE, Inc. and their local Sheriff's Department

* Organizing a "Coats and Warm Clothes" donation for the county Families First program

* Spreading Christmas cheer by caroling at the local nursing home
