Family, Career and Community Leaders of America
Texas Association

What is FCCLA?

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education in public and private school through grade 12. FCCLA offers intra-curricular resources and opportunities for students to pursue careers that support families. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education. FCCLA is the only career and technical in-school student organization with the family as the central focus.

Who can join?

Any student who has taken a course in Family and Consumer Sciences, or as determined by the state department of education, middle school through grade 12 is eligible for active membership in an organized FCCLA chapter within their school. Once the state and national dues are paid, the student will be an official affiliated member. Teachers can join FCCLA too! Teachers certified to teach Family and Consumer Sciences education, or as determined by the state department of education, can serve as the FCCLA chapter adviser.

Where can I join?

Talk to your school's FCS teacher and ask if there is a local chapter. If not, ask your teacher if they would like to be an advisor and create a new chapter.

What can FCCLA do for you?

With FCCLA, youth learn how to make a difference in their families, communities, and future careers. Members learn important life skills such as leadership, planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal communication!
