Competitive Events
STAR Events
STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) recognize members for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. STAR Events offer individual skill development and application of learning through cooperative, individualized, and competitive activities.
Proficiency Events
Proficiency Events are competitive events exclusively for Texas members. Winners at the regional conferences can only advance to the state level. Proficiency Event winners do not advance to national competition.
Top 5 winners in STAR and Proficiency Events with scores of 60 or higher at the Region Conferences advance to the State Leadership Conference.

Competitive Event Schedules
Tentative Schedules: Tentative competitive event schedules will be released by the beginning of January, however, entries should be prepared for their competition time to change on the final schedule (once dropped entries are removed).
Per the Competitive Event Guidelines, schedules will not be altered on request after they have been posted online.
Mandatory Online Competitive Event Check-in will be electronic via the DLG registration site. Check in instructions are in the resources section above. An e-mail will also be sent to chapter advisors on the Tuesday of your region conference week at 9:00 a.m. with the instructions. Check in will be open for 24 hours (until Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.) Advisors must log in and respond for all of their entries within that time. Failure to do so will result in the entries being marked as no-shows and the entries will be unable to compete. Drops: Advisors will notate any dropped entries during the online check-in process by selecting that the dropped entries will no longer be competing. Advisors no longer need to send drops to Ms. Sams via e-mail.
Final Schedules: Following the end of the competitive event check in time, final schedules will be updated online to remove any dropped entries. Final schedules will be updated by the day before competition and advisors will be notified once they are updated. Region Thursday schedules will be updated first. In the event of a drop, ALL entries will be moved up (competition days will not be changed and levels will not be mixed, but the competition time may be altered on the originally scheduled day). Entries should be prepared for their competition time to change.
Day of Drops/No-shows: If there are any drops/no-shows on the day of competition, advisors may be contacted to see if their entry can come earlier to fill in the gap, but there are no penalties if not.
